AVOID DISASTER

“Pride precedes a disaster, and an arrogant attitude precedes a fall.” (GOD'S WORD)
Proverbs 16:18
Main Text: Isaiah 13:5-11

Pride is a sign of disaster. It is an inwardly directed emotion that makes one feel a sense of superiority over others and can easily make someone look condescendingly at others. Psalm 10:4 “The wicked are too proud to seek God. They seem to think that God is dead.” (NLT).

Pride is one of the sins God hates. In James 4:6 we see that God resists the proud – He resists them from their advancements and breakthroughs, He wages war with them. Pride is the opposite of humility. Proverbs 11:2When pride comes, then comes disgrace; but with the humble is wisdom.” (RSV). A haughty man's end is always shameful, however, when a man chooses to be meek he attracts the wisdom of God. Ecclesiastes 7:8 “Something completed is better than something just begun; patience is better than too much pride.” (CEV) see also Isaiah 2:11 (CJB). We will either humble ourselves or God will do it for us and one is much more painful than the other. Isaiah 13:11 “I, the Lord, will punish the world for its evil and the wicked for their sin. I will crush the arrogance of the proud and humble the pride of the mighty.’ (NLT)

Confession: I declare in the name of Jesus, I am a success, Greater is He that’s in me than he that’s in the world. The Greater One resides in me. I’m a success I am not a failure; I am the glory of God! I am a job provider.
