IMPROVE A LIFE BY A SHOW OF KINDNESS
“...Love is kind...â€
1 Corinthians 13:4, NIV
Main Text:
What can you say of love or kindness in your own understanding? Who should be shown kindness? Has anyone benefitted from your kindness or love so far in this 2018? Let me remind you of a story shared in 2010. A young boy was abandoned by his parents and was picked up when he was 9 years old by a family in Italy. The boy was shown kindness and treated like a king in the hands of the Ballotelis. This young boy knew the Ballotelis as his parents and never reckoned with his biological parents. Today he is a world class footballer who is rated among the best paid in the world. The Ballotelis are reaping the kindness shown to this lad when he was nobody.
You may have heard this verse above many times before, but one translation says that “love looks for a way to be constructive.” In other words, kindness isn’t just about being nice; it’s looking for ways to improve someone else’s life. It’s bringing out the best in others.
When you start your day, don’t just spend time thinking about yourself or how you can make your own life better. Think about ways you can make someone else’s life better, too! Ask yourself, “Who can I encourage today? Who can I build up with my words of affection and kindness?” You have something to offer those around you that no one else can give. Someone in your life needs your touch and show of kindness. Someone in your life needs to know that you believe in them. We are responsible for how we treat the people He’s placed in our lives. He’s counting on us to bring out the best in our family and friends.
Today, ask the Lord to give you the creative ways to encourage those around you. As you sow seeds of encouragement and bring out the best in others, God will send people along your path that will build you up, too. Keep showing kindness for you may not know who will pay you back tomorrow.
Prayer: Help me to always show kindness O Lord.:
