HOW DO YOU REPAY GOD?
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
Psalm 100: 4
Main Text:
Relationships are reciprocal. Even in the heavenly business, God wants us to repay Him just as we want Him to repay us for work we do for Him. In Luke 18: 28, Peter asked Jesus what was their payment when they had left all their trades and families to follow Him. Paul, however, in Philippians 3:8 considered all he had lost to follow Christ as rubbish compared to the glory in eternity with Christ.
How do you repay God? Do you give Him the thanks that he deserves? Or, do you make Him regret ever saving you? It is better for you to be an unbeliever than to be a pretending Christian. This is because when evil befalls the so-called Christian, others may be blaming God for not protecting His own; but God knew, “He was never on my side all along anyway.” Do not be lukewarm lest He spew you out of His mouth.
If we take time to really read through the further readings, we’ll see something about the first two kings of Israel. Both of them repaid God badly. King Saul repaid God with pride, telling blatant lies, flagrant disobedience of simple instruction, after his defeat of the Amalekites. He loved cheap popularity, pretense and the ostensible fear of the people. He never gave due thanks to God who made him king from his humble background.
Likewise, David repaid God with abuse of power, immorality, hypocrisy, conspiracy against Uriah, murder, and covering up of the murder. However, David would always correct his wrong by first acknowledging then confess his sins and giving quality thanks to God and that is why he was always enjoying God’s mercy.
You deserve the glory and the honour, Lord we lift our hands in worship as we praise your holy name…/2x You are great, you do miracles of great there is no One else like you.
Prayer: Help me to always serve you O Lord
