GIVE EXPRESSION TO YOUR FAITH II
“… confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see
Hebrews 11:1 †(NIV)
Main Text:
Faith in others is also expressed by giving them another chance when they have messed up the first one. This is what Paul was asking Philemon to do regarding Onesimus in Philemon 11-12, “Formerly he was useless to you, but now he has become useful both to you and to me...” (NIV). People do change. If you believe it, give them a chance to prove it. When you give up on people is the greatest mistake. The shepherd that lost a sheep left the remaining 99 behind in search of just one and did not return until it was found. The prodigal son was never given up because he was celebrated even at his returns to his father.
Giving responsibilities to others is another sign that you have faith in them. Mark 3:13-14, “Jesus … appointed twelve that He …might send them out to preach” (NIV). Many pastors and departmental heads have a problem trusting their ministers or subordinates in office to handle responsibilities. Such people seem to forget that someone gave them an opportunity to grow on the job and they need to extend the same to others. If you continue to be all in all in your functions you can only become a, I-shall-die because you are not the El-Shaddai
How do you develop faith in others? One way is by praying for them. Remember that in Philemon 4 Paul said, “I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers” and then in verse 21 he expressed confidence in Philemon’s obedience.
Also Paul said in Colossians 1:9, “… since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives”.
When you wish people well it becomes easier for you to have faith in them and they in you, too..
Prayer: Help me to always express faith to others in Christ
