OBEDIENCE (1)
“If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land; But if you refuse and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken it.â€
Isaiah 1:19-20 (AMP)
Main Text:
The word obedience is usually associated with a human behavior that is characterized by the act of carrying out a command. It is assumed that without such orders the person would not have acted in that way. Obedience involves a hierarchy of power/status. The person giving the order has a higher status than the person receiving the order.
The New Testament word for obedience is hupakoe. It is a Greek compound word hupo meaning “under” and akouo meaning “to hear”. Therefore, to obey is “to hear under.” Obedience involves listening attentively with a heart of compliant submission and then obeying His Word.
Obedience brings about generational prosperity. Abraham obeyed God and by that we all are blessed. Gen 22:18 (NLT) “And through your descendants all the nations of the earth will be blessed—all because you have obeyed me.” Jesus said blessed are those who hear the Word and put it into practices (Luke 11:28). If you desire to walk in the blessing, take heed to the Word of God!
Confession: I declare today that I will present my body to God as a living sacrifice – laying aside sin, bad habits, ungodly friends and anything that will hinder me from obeying the Lord. I will not conform to this world and its way of thinking or talking but I’ll spend time reading and meditating on the Word of God so that I can be transformed into the person He wants me to be. Amen.
