WHAT IS THE GOSPEL?
“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.â€
Mark 16:15 (KJV)
Main Text:
The good news that God is no longer holding your sins and trespass against you is that which Jesus has asked us to proclaim to the world. However, a vast number of people think that they aren’t qualified enough to preach or share this gospel with friends, neighbors or even strangers. They have developed an erroneous mindset about what the gospel is. Therefore, in order to obey the commandment of Jesus Christ, we will be discussing about what the gospel really is.
In the Greek New Testament, gospel is the translation of the Greek noun “evangelion” and verb “evangelizo” which means to bring or announce the good news. Nothing in this world beats the good news, why? Because, it’s a plan God had designed to save sinful humans from eternal separation from Him. Jesus died for us – He took the death penalty on our behalf, so that we never have to be separated from God, that right there is the gospel.
The gospel is the power of God unto salvation (Romans 1:16) there’s no way to be saved from sin, destruction and calamities other than the gospel of Jesus. The gospel is the good news of Jesus, telling the world that Jesus saves, Jesus heals, Jesus sets free! The gospel of Jesus is divine, it’s not man made.
Confession: I commit to telling the world of the beautiful message of Jesus, I choose to be a vessel unto honor and I choose to bring the light to the door steps of men by sharing the everlasting message of the gospel.
Further Reading: Col 1:5-6 (ERV) “Your faith and love continue because you know what is waiting for you in heaven—the hope you have had since you first heard the true message, the Good News, that was told to you. Throughout the world, this Good News is bringing blessings and is spreading. And that's what has been happening among you since the first time you heard it and understood the truth about God's grace.”
Rom 6:23 (KJV) “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
