IT IS FINISHED

"Having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross."
Colossians 2:14-15
Main Text: Main Text: John 19:30

These three words encapsulate the culmination of Jesus' earthly mission and the establishment of a new covenant between God and humanity. Through His atoning sacrifice, Jesus paid the price for sin in full, satisfying the demands of divine justice and reconciling humanity to God. Hebrews 9:12 affirms this truth: "He entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption."

The phrase "It is finished" (Greek: "Tetelestai") carries the connotation of perfection, completion, and fulfillment. By His sacrificial death on the cross, Jesus accomplished the atonement for sin, securing salvation for all who believe in Him. Hebrews 10:14 confirms, "For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy."

In embracing the significance of Jesus' words, "It is finished," believers are invited to trust fully in the sufficiency of Christ's sacrifice for their salvation. His completed work on the Cross offers forgiveness, redemption, and eternal life to all who believe in Him. As recipients of God's grace, we rejoice in the assurance of salvation and live-in gratitude for the perfect and complete work of Christ on our behalf.

Confession:

I declare that in Christ, my salvation is secure, and my sins are forgiven. I rest in the completeness of His work on the cross, knowing that His sacrifice has accomplished redemption for all who believe. "It is finished" is my declaration of victory over sin and death, and I live in gratitude for the perfect and complete salvation found in Jesus Christ.
