PRIDE 1
“The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate.â€
Proverbs 8:13(ESV)
Main Text:
There’s a difference between the kind of pride that God hates and the kind of pride we can feel about a job well done see Galatians 6:4 (ESV), or the kind of pride we express over the accomplishment of loved ones. Kindly read 2 Corinthians 7:4. The kind of pride that stems from self-righteousness and sin, God hates it because it hinders men from seeking Him.
Permit me to share a story I read on pride. “There was this great man of God that worked with the late Evangelist, Reinhard Bonnke, his name is Richard Ngidi. This man was gifted in miracles, signs and wonders. During those days, Bonnke will preach and step down the platform for Richard Ngidi to do what he knows best to do. He was really the kingpin of the two, he was a concrete support to Bonnke and Bonnke's ministry was growing rapidly.
The Lord's General, Richard Ngidi began to think of himself as the maker of Reinhard Bonnke. After all, he was the man doing the whole thing yet Reinhard Bonnke is taking the credit and the ministry bears Bonnke's name too. He said to Bonnke's assistant, ‘the day I leave Bonnke, that day will mark the end of his ministry.' One day, he intentionally didn’t show up at a crusade he’s to minister, which happened to be the last time they ministered together.
Bonnke waited for him yet he didn’t show up. Frustrated and disappointed Bonnke mounted the platform fully dependent on the Holy Spirit. Guess what? God used him mightily that day in miracles and that marked the turnaround. Instead of that day being the end of Bonnke, it became his beginning and unfortunately the end of Ngidi. Time passed and one day Ngidi came to one of Reinhard Bonnke's programmes and saw a great crowd like he had never seen before and when he met Bonnke, Ngidi said, I missed it, I missed it!. That was the last time they met. He died shortly after that.
Today, everybody knows Bonnke before his transition to glory, but no one knows Richard Ngidi.” See also Ps 10:4 (ESV) Ngidi got so full of himself because He didn’t recognize that God was the one using Him, he felt the miracles were of his doings but the end was disastrous.
Confession: I declare I’m a success, I’m blessed, the glory of God is in my life, and I am the glory of God. I declare I’m a star, I’m a success going somewhere to happen. I am blessed.
