CLOVEN TONGUES AS OF FIRE

“And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”
Acts 2:3-4
Main Text: Main text: Exodus 19:18

The word cloven means “divided” or “separated.” The picture is of something like a large fire appearing in the room then dividing into “tongues” that rested momentarily upon each person in the room. This depicts the baptism of the Church into fire. To contact the fire of God, we need to persevere in the place of waiting upon the Lord either through our prayers or fasting.

Before His ascension, Jesus had told His disciples not to leave Jerusalem but to stay there and “wait for the gift my Father promised; In a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit” (Acts 1:4–5). According to some biblical scholars, they waited for 10 days after the initial 40days Jesus spent with them, they remained in prayer and fasting. Acts 1:14 “They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.”

In this season, we need the power of God more than ever before, however, this cannot be possible without the fire of God, we must be intentional about being fire carriers, the fire of God has the potency to melt mountains and break the chains the enemy intends to hold us bound. Praying in the Holy Ghost is key to unlocking the fire of God upon your life, you want to be baptized by fire? Pray in the Holy Ghost!

Confession:

I am a carrier of the presence of God, I am baptized with the Holy Ghost and with fire! I lay hands on the sick and they recover, I take up deadly serpents and they by no means harm me, I walk in the power of God!
