PRECIOUS IN GOD’S EYES(THE APPLE OF HIS EYE)

“For thus says the Lord of hosts, “After glory He has sent me against the nations which plunder you, for he who touches you, touches the apple of His eye.”
Zechariah 2:8
Main Text: Main Text: Psalm 17:8

The phrase the apple of Your eye in Hebrew is “the pupil of the eye”. When you look into someone’s eye, you can see yourself reflected in their pupil. The “apple” in the apple of the eye is a translation of the Hebrew word for “apple,” ishon, which is related to the word ish, meaning “man.” Etymologically, the ishon of the eye is “the little man of the eye.” Have you ever looked someone in the eye and seen your own reflection in their pupil? That’s the “little man,” right in the center of the eye.

The apple of one’s eye is a very sensitive place and therefore very protected. God blessed us with the eyelids for this very reason to protect the eyes. King David in Psalms 17:8 was very conscious of this truth, he knew he was precious to God therefore, God would keep an eye on him. He knew he was protected on all sides because of his status as the apple of God’s eye.

Now, Jesus who is the primary apple of the eyes of the Lord came and died for us, therefore, we have been engrafted into this reality and become precious children in God’s sight. Hence, God has his eyes on us, he protects us from the many fiery darts of the enemy. God is watching over you, do not fear what the wicked plot over your life, you are the little man of God’s eyes.

Confession:

I declare, I am preserved, I am protected, I am blessed, I am fruitful, I abound on all sides in Jesus name. Amen.
