NO GOING BACK

“By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
Hebrews 11:8
Main Text:

Mary Mary in her popular song; I can't just give up now, I’ve gone too far from where I started from, nobody told me the road won’t be easy, but I don’t believe He’s brought me this far to leave me”.

Our God is not wicked to leave us alone in our travails. He has promised us peace at, the end of the tunnel, and as long as we keep believing in Him, our faith will see us through. There is no better way to explain the content of our text than to look at it from the side of total dependence on God for our sustenance and upkeep.

A major ingredient of faith is obedience – total dependence on God. This is exactly what Abraham did. He demonstrated obedience of faith. He obeyed without questioning; he believed the covenant that God made with him (Genesis 12:2-3; 15:1-16). In obedience, he was even willing to sacrifice his son Isaac.

Mention was made of other heroes that came to prominence through faith, like Abel, Elijah, Noah, Sarah etc. These men and women of faith were tried but they never lost their vision of heaven. Many Christians today are frustrated because their needs and expectations are not immediately met; some actually go to church to see instant solution to their problems, I tell you, faith is seriously lacking in church today.

Are you discouraged because your desires and goals seem far from being actualized? Take courage from these heroes of faith who lived and died without giving up on God, yet continued in obedience of faith. Giving up is not an option to be considered. It will surely be well if we daily rely on the unfailing promises of God. He cannot fail. Going back is not an option for heavenly focused believers in this year of His Kingdom!

Prayer: I will not give up on God no matter what
