WILLING OBEDIENCE

"If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the best from the land"
Isaiah 1:19
Main Text:

Imagine what lives of obedience would have been if we have to live them as that of horses. We want to go one direction, but someone yanks the reins, pulling at the bit in our mouths. We are forced to go one way or the other, but against our will, and not knowing why. The direction we a forced to go might be for our own good, to keep us safe, but we go that way unwillingly.

I draw strength from a simple statement made concerning the Prophet Elijah, who warned King Ahab of drought and famine to come upon the land. But Ahab scoffed. And the Lord told Elijah to go and hide himself by the brook Cherith, that there he should drink of the brook, and that he would be fed by the ravens. And the scripture records a simple and wonderful statement: “So he went and did according unto the word of the Lord” I Kings 17:5

There was no arguing. There was no excusing. There was no equivocating. Elijah simply “went and did according unto the word of the Lord.” And he was saved from the terrible calamities that befell those who scoffed and argued and questioned.

Today, take time to search your mind and heart. Invite the Holy Spirit to reveal to you any areas that need adjusting. Be ready to obey God in everything you do. Be determined to live, think, speak and act the way God does! Beloved, we must not be like animals, like the horse and the goat. We must be people to whom God communicates-we must be people willing to listen, understand, and act in obedience to His will.

When you disobey God nothing good can come your way and even your prayers will not be heard by God. Be obedient to your parents, boss and to everyone in place of authority over you. Remember obedience has nothing to do with your age or status, it is a way of attracting God’s Kingdom in this 2019.

Prayer: I will not be disobedient to Your instructions O Lord
