THE POWER OF REDEMPTION
“in whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace”
Ephesians 1:7
Main Text: Main text: Colossians 1:14
The word "redeem" originally means "to buy out." Historically, this term was often used to describe the purchase of a slave's freedom. When applied to the sacrificial death of Jesus on the cross, it carries profound implications. If we say that we are "redeemed," it suggests that we were previously in a state of bondage. In other words, through redemption, we have been set free from the enslavement of sin, poverty, eternal punishment, and death.
Humans were designed to have dominion, not to live in captivity, which is why one of the central benefits of redemption is that we are restored to our intended role as rulers in life, like kings and priest (Romans 5:17 and Revelation 5:10).
Jesus sacrificed himself to set us free from the bondage of sin, exchanging his righteousness for our sinfulness. He gave us his prosperity, taking on our poverty in return. By paying this price, Jesus opened the door for us to receive the very best that God has to offer. 1 Corinthians 6:20 “For ye are bought with a price: therefore, glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.”
Confession:
I declare, I am redeemed from sin, sickness, diseases and poverty! I enjoy all round rest and prosperity! I am blessed! Amen
