THE OLD MAN IS GONE

“Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life].”
2 Corinthians 5:17 (AMP)
Main Text: Main Text: Romans 6:4

God created humanity with the intention of fostering a deep relationship and fellowship. However, when Adam disobeyed God, humanity fell under the influence of sin, resulting in a broken relationship with God. Romans 5:12 summarizes this condition, stating that "through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned." Despite this fall from grace, God's plan for redemption was already in motion. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to restore what had been lost, offering a path to forgiveness and reconciliation through His sacrificial death.

Jesus's mission was not to establish a temporal kingdom but to bring redemption and renewal. By giving His life on the cross, He made it possible for humanity to reconnect with God and be set free from the bondage of sin. Those who accept this gift and are "born again" become new creations, as described in 2 Corinthians 5:17. However, while the spiritual transformation is immediate, the renewal of the mind is a process. Even after accepting Christ, believers can still experience the lingering effects of their old nature, including selfishness, hatred, and fear. This is why believers must continually align their thoughts and behaviors with the principles of their new life in Christ.

The old man—the sinful nature—is crucified with Christ, and believers are encouraged to walk in the newness of life. This transformation is ongoing, and it requires a conscious effort to live according to the Spirit, not the flesh. As we grow in faith, we experience the freedom and victory that come with being a new creation in Christ.

Confession:

I decree that I am blessed by the Lord and I walk in the newness of life. My old nature has no power over me, for I am the righteousness of God, and I have dominion over the flesh. I walk in the Spirit.
