THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD

“And it came to pass, that on the morrow Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds.”
Num 17:8
Main Text: MAIN TEXT: Luke 4:18

The presence of the Lord and the Word of the Lord are two sides of the same coin—where the Word is, there too is His presence. In Numbers 17:1, the Word of the Lord came to Moses, and by verse 9, they were before the presence of the Lord. Wherever the Word is, the presence follows. To cultivate and sustain the presence of God, we must develop the habit of keeping His Word alive in our spirit and atmosphere.

Adam and Eve enjoyed intimate fellowship in the presence of God before the fall (Genesis 3:8). However, through the redemption of man, we now have free access to the presence of God by following the principles laid out in His Word. Ephesians 5:19 instructs us to, "Speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs; sing and make music in your heart to the Lord." Our awareness of this divine presence stems from our obedience to His Word. 1 Peter 2:9 declares, "We are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that we may proclaim the praises of Him who called us out of darkness into His marvelous light."

We must make a deliberate choice to continually build upon the Word of God, keeping it alive within us through the Scriptures, persistent prayer, and even the music we surround ourselves with. When we cultivate an atmosphere where God’s presence dwells, we become fruitful and thrive, just as Aaron’s rod blossomed in the presence of God.
