THE OLD MAN IS GONE
“Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life].”
2 Corinthians 5:17 (AMP)
Main Text: Main Text: Romans 6:4
God created the first man, Adam, His desire was for humanity to know Him intimately and share in a meaningful fellowship. However, when Adam rebelled against God, humanity fell under the dominion of Satan. Adam's disobedience severed the spiritual communion with God, and the consequences of sin affected all of mankind. As Romans 5:12 states, "Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned." Nevertheless, God's divine plan was not thwarted. In due time, God sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to earth with the purpose of restoring humanity to its original and eternal destiny.
Indeed, when Jesus came two thousand years ago, His mission was not to establish a temporal reign over mankind but to sacrificially give His life for humanity. His purpose was to offer redemption and reconciliation through His death, providing a means for the forgiveness of sins and the restoration of a broken relationship between God and mankind.
Before our spiritual rebirth, our minds were influenced by our old nature, leading us to embrace qualities like selfishness, hatred, and fear. The old self implanted within us a longing for sinful actions. Although the old self has been replaced through the process of being born again, traces of these negative tendencies linger. Until our minds undergo a renewal process, they may continue to steer us in the direction charted by our former selves. The ongoing transformation involves aligning our thoughts and behaviors with the principles of the new life that comes with being born again. The old man is dead hallelujah! And we walk in the newness of life! Glory to God.
Confession:
I decree, I am blessed of the Lord and I walk in the newness of life, my old nature does not have dominion over me, I am the righteousness of God and I have dominion over the flesh and walk in the spirit.
