THE DESIRE TO HONOUR GOD
I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids, until I find out a place for the Lord, a habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.
Psalm 132:4-5 KJV
Main Text:
In writing to the Christians in Rome, Paul paints a picture: Does it make sense for one part of the body to hurt another? Would you intentionally bite your toe, or poke your eye, or break a rib? Of course not! Likewise, we all belong to each other—we are knit together by the Holy Spirit as Christ’s body. Being devoted to and honoring one another should be obvious in the same way that caring for our fingers and knees and teeth is obvious. The Lord desires a habitation in your heart and he’s prepared to live in you if there’s going to be adequate preparation for His love and glory. He wants to live in you and make His name great through your life. It will be a great honour for you to be inhabited by the Lord and for you to prepare a place for Him to dwell. Psalm 132:13 says: For the Lord hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation. I pray as the Lord has chosen your heart for His habitation you will give Him room to flourish through your sacrificial and holy living. David bound himself to find a place for the Lord, for the ark, the token of God’s presence. When work is to be done for the Lord, it is good to tie ourselves to a time. You will be greatly honoured if your heart is set to honour God especially with your heart and your substances. It must be an intense desire without delay. Give your entire life to satisfy the Lord through sacrifice. Give abundantly to secure a habitation for His praise and worship. Your investment in God is secured with great present and future profits and can never be in vain. As you desire to honour Him, you will be greatly honoured in Jesus’ mighty name. Prayer: It is not my portion to serve God with evil intention Further Reading: Psalm 132:1-13 Read through the Bible: Job 3 & John 8
