THE SALT OF THE EARTH
“Ye are the salt of the earth…â€
Matthew 5:13 (KJV)
Main Text:
According to the Dictionary.com, salt of the earth means “an individual or group considered as representative of the best or noblest elements of society.” This means we are representatives of Jesus here on earth and it’s important to Him and to the world that we excel in everything that we do.
Salt is used as a preservative to save meat or food from spoiling. Jesus placed us on this earth as a preservative that will save the souls of men from damnation and separation from God. Salt has been used in time past as an instrument to preserve corruption of food or other edibles. Christians who obey God and do his will serve as a preservative of the human race by slowing down the spiritual and moral decay of the world around them.
The day you accepted Christ, you became a salt to this world, you became the hope of the nations, you became the answer to the cry of your generation, therefore, it’s imperative that you fellowship with God regularly in order to obtain answers to the ills of this world.
Confession: I am the salt of the earth; I will not lose savor! I will influence this world for Jesus! Glory be to God! I am excellent!
Further Reading: Mark 9:50 (ESV) “Salt is good, but if the salt has lost its saltiness, how will you make it salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another. "Col 4:6 (ESV) “Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.”
