WHO AM I IN CHRIST?
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.â€
2 Corinthians 5:17(ESV)
Main Text:
There’s a covenant between Jesus and God signed with the Blood of the Lamb which provides your rights in Christ. The promises are yours and no one can take them away from you.
If Jesus is your Lord, then you’re in right standing with God – you have the righteousness of God. You have a right to every single thing which God has. 2 Corinthians 5:21 “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (ESV) See also Luke 12:32 (ESV)
There are two Greek words which are translated “new” in the Bible. The first “neos” refers to something that has just been made, but there are already many others in existence just like it.
The second word translated new is the one used in this verse. It translates to “kainos” which means something just made unlike anything else in existence.
In Christ we are made an entirely new creation just as God created the heavens and the earth originally. 2 Peter 1:4 “By which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.” (ESV)
Any person who is in Christ is a new creature. The literal Greek says he is a new species of being which never existed before. Ephesians 2:1 “And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins.” (NKJV)
In Christ, we are regenerated, renewed and born again. This new nature is spiritually minded whereas the old nature was carnally minded. This new nature is eager to fellowship with God, and do His will on the earth.
In the New Birth, a man’s spirit is completely reborn; then it is the man’s responsibility to renew his mind with God’s word and use the Word to take control of his body.
As believers, we are united with Christ and have dominion over sin. We are no longer slaves to sin! Read also Romans 6:5-6 (NLT) You are redeemed, you are justified, you are chosen, you are righteous!!!
Confession: I declare, I am the redeemed of the Lord, I am sanctified, I am righteous, I am chosen, I am blessed, I enjoy all round advancement! Glory I’m blessed!!
