CONTENTMENT

“But godliness with contentment is great gain.”
1 Timothy 6:6 (KJV)
Main Text:

Contentment is the state of being mentally or emotionally satisfied with things as they are. In today’s world, it’s rare that we find anyone who is truly content with his or her condition in life. The Bible has a great deal to say about contentment, being satisfied with what we have, who we are, and where we are going.

The Bible says godliness with contentment is great gain. Godliness is a God-centered life. It grows not through the pursuit of a process, but through the presence of a person. Jesus Christ is the mystery of godliness (1 Tim. 3:16) His presence in your life is your hope of becoming the person God has called you to be.

Contentment is finding joy in what God has given you. The opposite of contentment is greed which destroys your capacity to enjoy what God has given you. Contentment is not something that comes quickly, easily or naturally. Paul said I have learnt to be content (Phil. 4:12) therefore, you learn contentment by following the precept of Christ Jesus.

Prayer: Thank you Father because You are the true source of wealth, satisfaction, fulfillment and contentment. In the name of Jesus, the spirit of greed and covetousness is destroyed.
