WHAT HAVE YOU PREPARED?

Now on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they, and certain other women with them came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared.”
Luke 24:1
Main Text:

Jesus is the Son of God who heroically gave His life to die for our sins. Jesus rose from the dead on Easter Sunday (as being celebrated today); now He offers to you the gift of eternal life and forgiveness of sins which is the true story of Easter basically to change your life. Apart from the disciples of Jesus, some women were part of the earthly ministry of Jesus; there was Mary Magdalene; the mother of James; Joana the wife of Chuza, steward of Herod and Salome, mother of James and John. Just like the disciples, they felt their world had been shattered by the crucifixion of Jesus, they had lost hope. Yet they did what the tradition required; gave befitting last burial rites to the Lord.

The preceding chapter of our main text ended with an information on how the women prepared fragrant oils and spices in readiness to anoint the body of their Master. Today is Easter Sunday commemorating the resurrection of Jesus, what are you bringing to Him? Spices give out a pleasant smell and not a foul odour. If Jesus were to come back today, what will He find in your heart? Is your heart filled with the sweet presence of the Holy Spirit and growing the fruit of the spirit? Or is it the stench of the fruit of the flesh, of hidden and secret sins?

Matthew 28:5 says "Don't be afraid! I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He isn't here! He has been raised from the dead, just as He said it would happen..." Let’s meet the resurrected Christ bringing our spices of holiness, faithfulness and obedience to the word of God, knowing that those who will worship Him, must worship in Spirit and in truth John 4:24. Happy Easter beloved.

Prayer: Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable unto you Lord.
