DEVOTED PRAYER OF UNITY

“They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”
Acts 2:42 (NIV)
Main Text: : Acts 12:1-25

One of the appeals of the Christians in Nigeria today is coming to together to pray for the nation. I sometime ask myself how indeed we are united in the spirit to achieve this. United prayer is an important part of the church. This form of prayer is also known as Corporate Prayer.

When believers pray together power is released. Acts 2:43 “Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles.” (NIV). United prayer edifies and unifies us as we share our common faith. Acts 2:44.

In Acts 12, we see a practical illustration of the power of united prayer. Herod had killed James the brother of John, and saw it pleased the Jews, consequently, he sought to kill Peter immediately. However, ceaseless prayers were made by the church on his behalf, and the miracle broke forth, and an Angel of the Lord rescued him out of the jail (Acts 12:1-25).

Peter and John were arrested and faced trial before the religious council in Acts 4, when the church heard, they prayed and miracles happened. The principal way to change the system of this world, is for the body of Christ to unite in prayers and there shall be obvious results.

Confession: In the name of Jesus, I decree from this moment forward, I see myself the way God sees me. I am highly favored of the Lord, I am crowned with glory and honor, I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, and I am reigning as a King in life through the one man Jesus Christ the Messiah!
