THERE IS NO LOVE WITHOU FORGIVENSS

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life
John 3: 16
Main Text:

Today, the world celebrates ‘Valentine day’ as a day of lovers. Lots of gifts, flowers and cards are exchanged. The theme of most discourse in town today will be love.

It is so easy to fall in love, but to sustain it requires hard work; true love goes beyond gifts and flowers. When you look at couples that have been together for long it then seems like they never argued, quarreled or had misunderstandings; but that’s not true! Love is only blind in fantasies! It has sharp opened eyes in reality of marriage!

In Isaiah 5, God was disappointed with a particular set of people for not bringing forth good fruit despite the care He gave them like a vine dresser tending a vine. God tested this people’s love for Him, but they failed. Bishop T.D. Jakes was interviewed after the premier of his recently produced Movie; JUMPING THE ROOM and he had these to say when asked on how love can be sustained in marriage; “The only glue that really holds a family together is their ability to be able to forgive each other. Your love will constantly be challenged but you have to keep forgiving” He was also asked to comment on the high rate of divorce in the society and he said; “I think families have lost a sense of forgiveness. When they find problems they just walk away!’’

Jesus loved us while we were yet sinners; the major ingredient in a pot of lasting love is forgiveness. How many times have you forgiven your spouse over your quarrels? Prune the wild fruits of anger, malice, hatred, bitterness, envy, wrath etc. that have grown in your heart over time. Cultivate godly seeds that will bring forth fruit of love, joy, peace, goodness, gentleness, meekness, faith and temperance, (Galatians 5:22). Let this day count to God in a closer relationship with Him.

Prayer: Take me deeper in love with you Lord
