RENEW YOUR LIFE WITH THE WORD OF LIFE “

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind …”
Romans 12: 2
Main Text:

After you’ve given your life to Christ, you’ve got a responsibility. The Bible tells us not to be like the rest of the world. Don’t conform to the world’s standards and ways of doing things. Be different. Be transformed by the renewing of your mind. That means, change your way of perception; have a Christ-like mind. If you want to see increased manifestation of the glory of God in this 2018, you must keep renewing your mind with the Word of God. Well, the word of God never changes. What is true yesterday may not be today. Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. The truth is always true, any day any time. The scripture above centers on two key words: “Conformed” and “transformed”. According to the text, the major difference in the two is that “conformity” is outward while “transformation” is inward that will now reflect on the outward. The pressure of life may make somebody to conform even when such thing is not convenient. Before you became a Christian, you heard, and spoke words from the world; words that you learnt from your friends, from school, your environment, the members of your family, etc. As you study and yield yourself to the prevailing Word of life, your spirit is inundated with divine truths; your mind is elevated to think Kingdom thoughts. This is why learning and meditating on the Word is so important. God’s Word gives you a new way of thinking.

The world around us greatly conflicts with what the word of God says, the stories of betrayal, death, mishaps, hatred, unemployment, kidnapping, rituals and so on. These things have a way of conditioning one’s mind to a particular mindset. Paul warns in Romans 8: 7 of the danger in this. But amidst all these conflicts, you are beseeched to constantly renew your mind by the only immutable news – the prevailing Word of God.

Prayer: Father, help me to focus on what Your word says about me.
