TAKE NO THOUGHT FOR YOUR LIFE

“And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.”
Luke 12:22
Main Text: Main Text: Matthew 6:33

Jesus said, “Take no thought for your life.” This is a very strong statement, as He shifts our focus away from ourselves and directs it toward God. In Matthew 6:25, He repeats this phrase: “Take no thought for your life,” which compels us to deeply consider its meaning. What Jesus was essentially saying is that true prosperity only comes from God the Father.

He clarifies this in verse 33, where He says that all other things will be added unto us if we seek first the kingdom of God. God knows we need cars, shelter, clothing, and much more. However, His call is for us to work for Him, and in return, He will beautify our lives. Prosperity from God is not attained through self-centered pursuits, but rather by shifting our focus from ourselves to serving others in the will of God.

Many times, we find ourselves overwhelmed by the cares of this world, but this is not God’s standard for us. Instead, He calls us to serve Him faithfully—through winning souls, serving in His house, and many other ways. We must surrender our lives completely to Jesus and dedicate ourselves to the advancement of His work.

A life of self-denial will bring us far more than our own hard work ever could. True prosperity comes only from God, and it is a reward for working for Him, not for striving in worldly pursuits. When we focus on serving God, He blesses us in ways we could never achieve on our own.

Confession:

I declare that I take no thought for my life; just as God takes care of the birds of the air, He will take care of me. I am rich in God, and I experience true prosperity! Amen!

Matt 6:30-34 “Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”

Luke 12:27-32 “Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith? And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you. Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.”
