GIVE EXPRESSION TO YOUR FAITH I

“… confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see” (NIV).
Hebrews 11:1
Main Text:

In Philemon verse 21 Paul said to Philemon, “Having confidence in thy obedience I wrote unto thee, knowing that thou wilt also do more than I say.” This scripture clearly shows that Paul had faith in Philemon. Aside from expressing it with words, one way we show that we have faith in people is by giving them a chance or a responsibility. In John 15:15 Jesus said to His disciples, “Henceforth I call you not servants … but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of My Father I have made known unto you.” Jesus knew that the wickedness of man is great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart is only evil continually (Genesis 6:5), yet He drew some closer to Himself and called them friends.

A friend, by the way, is a person that you know well and regard with affection and trust. One problem with many people today is that in a bid to avoid getting hurt they have shut everyone out of their hearts and would not give people an opportunity to express themselves. Their case is like that of Elijah who said to the Lord, “… I have been very jealous for the Lord God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken Thy covenant, thrown down Thine altars, and slain Thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away” (1 Kings 19:10). You cannot afford to go through life thinking that you are the only one that loves the Lord, His house, and His service. Give others a chance to prove to the world what they carry inside to bless their world..

Prayer: Teach me to always express my faith in all I do O Lord.
