TAME THE FLESH

“But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.”
1 Cor 9:27
Main Text: Main Text: 1 Corinthians 1:30

It’s important to control our fleshly nature. Sometimes, we may indulge in certain vices that, while not inherently sinful, can hinder our work for the Lord. We must bring our flesh under subjection because the flesh loves to do what it wants. However, you are its master and must train it to obey the laws of the Spirit. By exercising discipline and self-control, you can ensure that your actions align with God's will and that you remain effective in your service to Him.

The flesh cannot please God; it is an enemy of the Lord. Romans 8:8 says, "So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God." The flesh is an adversary that seeks to keep you from experiencing the blessedness of God's presence. Stay away from sin, especially sexual sin. Quit masturbating, quit fornication, and quit orgies. Stay away from all forms of sin!

1 Thessalonians 4:3-4 states, "For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour." It is an honorable thing to control the flesh and live in a way that pleases God. By mastering your flesh and living in sanctification, you demonstrate your commitment to God and align yourself with His will.

Confession:

I declare that I will keep my body under control and bring it into subjection to Your will. I commit to living a life of self-discipline, ensuring that my actions reflect Your holiness and righteousness. As I preach to others, I strive to be a credible witness, whose life exemplifies the transformative power of Your Word. I seek Your grace and guidance to avoid hypocrisy and remain steadfast in my faith. I dedicate myself to walking by the Spirit, offering my body as a living sacrifice, and continually renewing my mind through Your Word.

Romans 12:1-2 "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."

John 6:63 “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”
