UNDERSTANDING THE LAW OF CHRIST 2

The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
Psalm 19: 7
Main Text:

These are just a few examples of situations in the Bible where there are statements that seem contradictory and confusing. The fact that such statements exist in the Bible, however, does not make God an author of confusion. Remember that Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” Hard to follow and know as this scripture may seem, there is a time when each of them is the appropriate approach to a situation. For instance, there is a time to answer a fool according to his folly, and there is also a time not to answer a fool according to his folly. People get into trouble when they do the right thing at the wrong time.

How do you know when to apply one or the other? This brings us again to the issue of the importance of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer. Isaiah 11:1 describes the Spirit of God as the Spirit of wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, and the fear of the Lord He knows what would be the outcome if we took this step or that other one. It is therefore very important that we depend totally on the Holy Spirit for direction in every step whether small or big. Also, without the Holy Spirit, who is the Spirit of understanding, we cannot understand the scriptures no matter how much time we spend studying them but by the help of the Holy Spirit, Rhema is gotten which makes the Word of God meaningful and workable for us. There is evidently no contradiction in the Word of God, but when the Holy Spirit is absent in us, we tend to be confused and give the word irrelevant meaning. Today, ask for the Spirit of the understanding of God’s word so as to live in obedience of His Word.

Prayer: God grant me the understanding of your word today
