SERVICE-A KEY TO GREATNESS
… whosoever will be great among you let him be your minister and whosoever will be Chief among you let him be your servant
Matthew 20:26-27
Main Text:
What we read in the above scripture opened to us what I called the key to greatness. God is letting us know that whoever must be great in life must first learn to serve and be ready to undertake for others. The word minister in the Greek language is “diakono” meaning an attendant, the one who runs errands for others, one who renders services. In other word, one who can be called upon at any time and he will be ready to answer. How many of our pastors and leaders today can sincerely typify that definition?
You are a doctor, a manager, a trader, a teacher, even a director etc. you are called to serve until you learn to serve in that office becoming great in the real sense of it will still be far from you. When you serve people through your work, the Lord will be mindful of you and bless you He will cause everything you do to prosper. God said there is profit in all labour (Prov. 14:23). In other word, when you faithfully serve, you have a place in the mind of God. It doesn’t matter the office you are in or the business and job you do. If your goal is to render quality service your greatness will be inevitable. Be motivated by the word of our Lord Jesus, who came not to be ministered unto but to minister and to give His life a ransom for many Matt. 20:28.
Wherefore God also has highly exalted Him and gave Him a name which is above every name Phil. 2; 9. Be ready to serve, do not allow the hypocrisy of men send you to early grave. You cannot share in the glory of God. Let us jointly involve in the expansion of the Kingdom of God with humble service unto humanity.
Prayer: Dear God thank you for inspiring me today to be service conscious.
