THE PERFECT AND COMPLETED WORK OF CHRIST

“When he had received the drink, Jesus said, 'It is finished.' With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.”
John 19:30
Main Text: Main Text: John 17:23

When Jesus paid the price for our redemption, He didn't offer a partial payment; His sacrifice was total and complete. He laid down His life to secure our victory. The work Jesus did is perfectly perfect and completely complete; nothing can be added to it. Rejoice in the finished work of Christ. "It is finished" translates to the Greek word "Tetelestai," the last thing Jesus said before His death on the cross. Tetelestai signifies the successful end and completion of a specific course of action.

Notably, Tetelestai is in the perfect tense in Greek, indicating an action completed in the past with results continuing into the present. It conveys the idea that "This happened and it is still in effect today." When Jesus cried out, "It is finished," He meant, "It was finished in the past, it is still finished in the present, and it will remain finished in the future." Jesus didn't die declaring, "I am finished," which would imply defeat, but rather, "It is finished," signifying the successful completion of the work He came to do. Hallelujah!

In the same way, when a person paid off a loan in the past, they were issued a receipt stamped with the word "tetelestai," indicating that the debt was now paid in full. This served as verification that they were no longer responsible for any of the debt; everything they owed was completely and permanently paid for. Jesus has paid it all!

Confession:

Thank You Lord that the devil is a powerless, defeated foe! And, in Christ Jesus I am victorious! I walk in the promises God has for me and my mind is transformed by His Word. I am not moved by my situation because I know Jesus has paid it all, I am not defeated I have set my hope in Jesus and by faith I walk in victory!
