THE BLOOD OF JESUS
“And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.”
Heb 9:22
Main Text: MAIN TEXT: Ephesians 1:7
The great lyricist, Andraé Crouch, beautifully sang, “The blood that Jesus shed for me, way back on Calvary; the blood that gives me strength from day to day—it will never lose its power. It reaches to the highest mountain; it flows to the lowest valley. The blood that gives me strength from day to day—it will never lose its power.” Unlike human blood, which expires after a set period, the blood of Jesus remains eternally powerful, offering forgiveness and restoration to all humankind.
Under the Old Covenant, sacrifices and the blood of animals were required to atone temporarily for sin. But in sending His Son, God provided the ultimate and perfect sacrifice. Jesus’ blood was shed on the cross to redeem us once and for all, as 1 Peter 1:18-19 declares, “For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed... but with the precious blood of Christ.” We are redeemed by His precious blood, do not ever think light of the blood!
Through the blood of Jesus, we are justified—declared righteous by God. Romans 5:9 explains, “Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!” Justification means that through faith in Christ, God views us as if we had never sinned. Not only are we justified, but His blood also reconciles us with God, restoring the relationship that sin had broken. Colossians 1:20 assures us, “and through him to reconcile to himself all things… by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.” This reconciliation means we are no longer separated from God but can enjoy a close, personal relationship with Him.
The blood of Jesus is more than a historical event; it is the eternal sign of God’s love, power, and mercy. Through His blood, we are forgiven, redeemed, justified, and empowered to live victoriously.
Confession:
"I decree, by the blood of Jesus, I am sanctified, holy, and righteous. I live a victorious life every day—Hallelujah!"
