PERSISTENCE!

“Ask, and it shall be given you: seek and ye shall find: knock and it shall be opened unto you”
Matthew 7:7
Main Text:

Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. …. Persistence and determination alone are powerful tools. The slogan “Press On” has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race. -Calvin Coolidge.

Persistence is the ability to maintain action regardless of your feelings. You press on even when you feel like quitting. From our text, Jesus teaches perseverance in prayer. To ask is to present our needs to God. Prayer is man’s greatest means of communicating with divinity. We ask Him to meet our needs all in accordance with His promises. We must not just ask but do it according to His will. Most times our perseverance is tested when we ask out of His will.

When God finds a praying heart, He manifests Himself as a prayer answering God. When we come to the throne of grace with faith, the door of mercy and grace shall no longer be shut against us, for “every one that asked received” though not with sin in our heart. Prayer requires more of the heart than of the tongue. None can pray well but he that lives well in total obedience to God’s Word shall receive answers to his prayers. You will never seek Him in vain when you seek the Lord with a right heart.

We should have hope in the promises of God for this is the only way of receiving from Him. We need to come to God as children with reverence and confidence. Sometimes He may not answer immediately or in His Wisdom He may refuse altogether. Don’t give up; continue to ask until your joy is full. If human beings can be kind, how much more the Creator of heaven and earth? God still answers prayers today. So ask, seek, and keep knocking until the answer comes. He who ceases to pray ceases to grow in the spirit.

Prayer: I receive fire to pray more
