SHINING IN DARKNESS
In the beginning the word already existed. He was with God, and He was God
John 1: 5
Main Text:
Stars are seen at night. The darker the skies, the brighter the stars will shine. The Shepherd who watched their flocks at night saw the star of Christ when He was born at night ‘When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy’ Mt. 2:10 it is when darkness covers the earth that stars are revealed. In other words, the brightness of day light covers or undermines that of the stars in the skyline. You need not fear darkness because darkness is to expose your shine. When darkness covered Egypt and they were about to lose their first borns, the Israelites were getting ready to shine forth in joy.
In the midst of darkness, you will shine. In the midst of famine, poverty, pestilence, etc you will shine forth. Beloved, make this declaration now before you continue with this devotion; I am born to shine, my star will not blur, my light will shine amidst darkness and I shall not die in my darkness in the name of Jesus.
The darkness that was meant to cover your glory shall expose your glory instead. Usually, stars and celebrities in the secular world celebrate at night and they shine under the neon lights and chandeliers. But your own shining will not be determined by any force in this year of the prevailing Word. The Word of God is the best you need to employ when in dark. The Word is the Lamp and Light to our paths in life.
You do not need to shine only physically. You need to shine mentally and spiritually. The best meals are not costly. Our forefathers ate better meals yet cheaper than today’s. Daniel and his three friends – Dan. 1: 11 – 15 – ate simpler meals but were much healthier than those who are delicious meals. The Holy Communion is a simple meal yet it will make you shine in darkness. Make sure you don’t miss the next taking of the body of Christ in communion.
Prayer: Make me shine brighter in this 2018 in Jesus’ name
