DISCOVERING GOD
‘And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.”
Matt 14:23
Main Text: Main Text: Matthew 6:33
Just as idol worshippers take pride in knowing their gods and thus command exploits through them, believers must also know their God. Scripture says that those who know their God will do exploits. We must personally discover God, and this can only be achieved through the disciplined practice of studying the Word and prayer. Dan 11:32 “And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.”
Without faith, it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). However, faith cannot be developed without the Word. Romans 10:17 states, 'So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.' Therefore, to discover God, we must devote ourselves to both the written and spoken Word of God. The ministry of the Word and prayer is the path that enables us to access the knowledge of who God is.
In Acts 6:4, 'But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.' The Apostles dedicated themselves to prayer to discover God. Similarly, to truly know God, we must commit ourselves to long hours of prayer, expanding the capacity of our spirit to ascend to heights that reveal who God is to us.
Confession:
I declare, I give myself wholly to the ministry of the word and prayer. I discover the ways and principles of Jesus and I ascend into greater heights in God, in Jesus name. Amen.
