AVOIDING COVENANT CHALLENGERS 4
“...also the Lord telleth thee that He will make thee a house. And when thy days be fulfilled... and I will establish his kingdom
II Samuel 7:11-12
Main Text:
The fourth thing we want to note about covenant challengers is that they make use of information given to them about you and anyone else whose covenant they want to attack. The Bible refers to Ahithophel as David’s counselor. Now if someone is your counselor you try not to hide anything from him because he has to know all that is necessary before he can give you the right counsel. Your counselor is therefore your confidant and knows a lot about you. Since Ahithophel was David’s counselor it goes without saying that he knew a lot about David – his plans, strategies, principles, weaknesses, strengths, aspirations, etc. 2 Samuel 15:12 says, “And Absalom sent for Ahithophel...David’s counselor…” Verse 31 of the same chapter says, ‘And one told David, saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom…” Ahithophel, David’s counselor was one of those that Absalom got on his team to fight against the covenant of the Lord with David. Definitely Ahithophel, armed with all the information he had about David, would have made very big contributions towards Absalom’s success in his evil venture but for the fact that David prayed, the Lord turned Ahitophel’s counsel to foolishness in answer to David’s prayer in the latter part of 2 Samuel 15:12. Many believers have trusted and confided in wrong people because they were too blind to see that those people were ‘Absaloms’ dressed as friends. Some people in the heat of anger have even complained about their spouses or children to wrong people thereby opening the door of their homes and lives to covenant challengers. Be careful with people, pray more and know the Word.. Even the Bible advises us in Micah 7:5 to “Trust ye not in a friend....” Be careful not to give to ‘Absalom’ today information that he will use against you or your loved ones tomorrow
Prayer: God keep me away from every destiny killer
