BEWARE OF LITTLE SINS I
“… The Lord is with you, while ye be with Him; and if ye seek Him, He will be found of you; but if ye forsake Him, He will forsake you.â€
II Chronicles 15:2
Main Text:
1Peter 5:5 says that God resists the proud, many humble believers become arrogant when He anoints and begins to manifest His power through them. One way you know that pride is setting in is that you begin to think that you can stay away from fellowship and still do well spiritually because you are anointed. Or you probably begin to feel too big to pray or read the Bible. Another sign of pride is refusal to participate in your departmental work except you are given a big role that will show how anointed you are. Insubordination to your pastor/unit leader, refusal to take correction, failure to ask questions when in darkness, becoming a faultfinder (with rules and people you had no problems with before), insubordination to your husband/expecting to be worshipped by your wife, becoming intolerant of and impatient towards weaker brethren, etc. are some other signs that pride has set in. To retain God’s oil we must stay away from pride.
We also need to find out and avoid all other things that God hates. Proverbs 6:16-19, Galatians 5:19-21, and many other scriptures reveal such things to us.
The Holy Spirit is the source of anointing and so we must stay connected to Him if we want to always have Him in us. Study the Word, attend believers’ fellowship in church services, relate with other believers (which means we must learn to get along with others), and serve God (both privately and with others), live righteously, etc.
Galatians 5:16 says we should walk in the Spirit. This involves allowing Him to direct and guide our every thought, word, action, and reaction. As we do this we access Him more and more by His prevailing Word.
Prayer: I will keep dwelling in your presence
