REMAIN FAITHFUL, IT PAYS
“I Know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my nameâ€
Revelation 3:8
Main Text:
An elderly Christian lady, crippled with arthritis, hobbled to church every service day with her crutches. Of course, it was a great ordeal with considerable amount of toil and pain. But she braved the challenge, just to receive the water of life. One day, a friend of hers, who had observed her regularly asked, “how do you manage to be at every service?” The elderly Christian lady answered, “my heart gets there first, and my old legs just follow after.”
Her case aptly explained the situation of the church in Philadelphia, which endured all afflictions to please God. From our text, Jesus Christ testified of the church as having little strength – weak, yet, they obeyed Him wholeheartedly. The city was noted for wickedness, supporting the causes of Satan, but these Philadelphian believers stood firmly for Christ, living righteously. Jesus testified that because the church patiently obeyed Him despite the persecution, He would protect them from tribulations and temptations that would come upon the world.
How many of us can faithfully stand for Christ despite the challenges of this life? It is not what we claim that will justify our position in Christ, but it is doing the will of God. We should know that God always rewards those who trust and serve Him faithfully.
True believers have a special place in Christ’s heart. He deeply cares for us and has set an open door of opportunities for us to make it in life, if only we allow His fruit of righteousness to grow in us. A vital way to please God further in this year is to remain faithful to Him at the face of any challenge we go through in life. Remember the story above of the woman; that gives us a serious encouragement. Your faithfulness makes you trustworthy to God.
Prayer: I will remain faithful serving you only O Lord
