MINISTERING TO THE LORD

“As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.”
Acts 13:2 (KJV)
Main Text:

The phrase that is sometimes heard among those leading worship is that we must come and “minister to the Lord,” and since the word “minister” can bring to our minds the idea of “meeting needs,” we need to think seriously about what we are saying.

To "minister to the Lord" is to worship him alone in all that you do. So, in essence, any ministry that is directed towards others without first being directed towards God is idolatry. The Hebrews interpretation for the phrase “ministry to the Lord” means sharath, which means “to attend to, to minister unto, serve, or wait on.” In Psalms 134:1 &135:2, we find another dimension of ministry to the Lord. Here, the word minister is translated from the Hebrews word amad which means, ““to stand, abide, continue, remain, tarry, or to stay up.”

The scripture shows us that as they ministered unto the Lord, the destiny of Barnabas and Saul was birthed. When you decide to wait on the Lord and meet His needs, your desires become fulfilled in God.

Confession: The nations come to me to receive answers, I am shining, my greatness cannot be hidden! I minister to the Lord and my needs are met in Jesus name.
