GODLY REVERENCE
“Observe the commands of the LORD your God, walking in obedience to him and revering him”
Deuteronomy 8:6
Main Text: Main text: Ephesians 5:21
What is reverence? Reverence is the profound and intrinsic sense of honor and respect, manifesting both deeply within oneself and outwardly through demonstrative actions. Reverence encompasses a blend of awe, fear, and wonder, all intertwined with deep respect. This sentiment is particularly heightened in response to the Lord God's awe-inspiring power and majestic presence.
The Lord is calling The Father’s House to a place of reverence and Godly fear, it is important we understand that this comes with its many benefits to our lives and in our service to the Lord, it is therefore imperative we have an understanding of the word. To revere God is to fear Him in the fullest sense of the word. To fear God is to have a wholesome dread of ever displeasing the Lord. That implies our love for Him, as well as our awe of Him. He isn’t to be trifled with. Psalm 2:11 says, “Worship the Lord with reverence and rejoice with trembling.” Psalm 5:7 says, “But as for me, by Your abundant lovingkindness I will enter Your house, At Your holy temple I will bow in reverence for You.” Hebrews 12:28, “Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe.”
Reverence to God connotes gratitude, it shows God we honor him for the authority He has given us as believers, it also shows him we are grateful for all He did for us over 2000 years ago. To live reverently is to maintain a constant and conscious awareness of being in the presence of an awe-inspiring, holy God. His omnipresence accompanies us in every facet of our lives. He perceives the weight of our hearts, comprehends the inquiries of our minds, and even knows the precise count of hairs on our heads in any given moment. Our omnipotent God showers us with an enduring love, perpetually concerned about our well-being. Through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, He abundantly provides for all our needs. God deserves unceasing reverence and adoration, commanding our utmost respect.
Confession:
I delight myself in the Lord, and He gives me the desires of my heart. I refuse to fear or be shaken by financial trials. I have the peace of God operating in my life, and I know God has a plan for me to experience financial victory in my life. I cast every situation over onto my God. He is my Provider, my Deliverer and my Strong Tower. I will wait patiently in faith for the direction of the Holy Spirit. I am victorious in my finances.
