THE CONCEPT OF TIME

“In the beginning God created the Heaven and the earth.”
Genesis 1:1 (KJV)
Main Text:

Human beings are creatures of time and we are preoccupied with that theme. We wear watches so we can keep amount of time, and we muse within ourselves: how much time we have left? One thing is certain, the scripture makes a distinction between the temporal and eternal. In describing God, the Psalmist says “from everlasting to everlasting, you are God…” yet in the same context of man it says, “the days of our years are threescore years and ten…” (Psalm 90: 2&10) Time clearly does not relate with God and man in the same way.

Time is the most valuable asset in our life, even more valuable than money. If you lose money, it can be regained, however, if you lose time, it’s gone forever! It’s imperative that you make the most of your time while you are here on earth, for our lifetime is but a fleeting mist in the scope of eternity. James 4:14 “Whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away”

God gave us 24 hours in a day to accomplish what we need to get done. This includes adequate sleep, rest, work and play. However, when we sleep too much, rest too much, play too much we get into trouble. It’s imperative that we redeem the time, for the days are evil and God is counting on us to fulfill our purpose in this world, thereby spreading abroad His glory.
