TIME OF DECISION

… Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless, not my will but thine, be done!
Luke 22:42
Main Text:

The night before Jesus was crucified was a night of definite decisions in the lives of several people. Simon Peter and the other disciples that Jesus took to the Mount Olives all decided to sleep despite the severity of the hour while Judas Iscariot decided to carry through his plan of betraying Jesus thereby damning his own soul forever. But Jesus chose to pray and in praying He made a decision to follow the will of God despite what it entailed, and it brought Him unrivaled eternal glory.

I would like to once again share a story of a beloved sister, she said; ‘‘in 2001, I was at a national conference where an American couple Bob and Joan testified about the cost of their decisions. Bob was a Christian brother with two grown up daughters but one day, he decided to seek out the pleasure of homosexuality and he lived in that secret sin for years until he contracted HIV. He then had to confess to his wife and children and at that point, Joan had to make a decision. If you were Joan, what decision would you make in a case of an abominable act? You will say “good for him / her I can’t partake in his /her punishment”.

Well, with tears in her eyes Joan in her own words said; I chose to forgive him even though I would be justified if I divorced him.’’ When they came to Nigeria then, Bob had been living with HIV for 13 years but you would never guess. They enjoy each other’s company and showed love in several ways.

What decision is before you today? Can you totally submit it to the will of God? When you are submitted to God, you can’t make a mistake. Your total commitment to God in this year of His kingdom will attract God’s attention on you this 2019.

Prayer: Lord I give you my live. I give you my soul I live for you alone, have your way
