THE COMMANDMENT OF LOVE

"This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.”
John 15:12 (ESV)
Main Text:

Loving one another is a commandment from God. He commands us to do two things; to believe in His Son Jesus Christ and to love one another (1 John 3:23). We have already believed, now we must love. God gave us this love and He gave us the commandment to love. Today we must make up our mind to love one another according to God’s commandment.

The commandment of love isn’t an Old Testament law, it’s a law that supersedes all other laws in the Old Testament. Jesus explained the magnitude of this love in John 15:13 “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lays down his life for his friends.” We must decide to love one another because love is of God.

Most of us believers tend to make mockery of certain people because of the clothes they wear repeatedly, their body odor, their pronunciation, their way of life, however, this is wrong because Jesus commands us to love one another as we love ourselves (Matt. 22:39) This means that we should be able to help these needy people in whichever way we can and if we can’t help them become a better version of themselves, keep quiet and mind your business.

Prayer: Lord, I let go of every hate I have in my heart towards my neighbor, friends or loved ones. I forgive Lord, and I choose to love them in Jesus name.
