RIGHTEOUS PROFIT: HONESTY IN BUSINESS
“All things are legitimate [permissible — and we are free to do anything we please], but not all things are helpful (expedient, profitable, and wholesome). All things are legitimate, but not all things are constructive [to character] and edifying [to spiritual life].”
1 Corinthians 10:23
Main Text: Main Text: 1 Timothy 6:10
Profiteering, the practice of making or seeking excessive or unfair profit, especially illegally or in a black market, is a wrong attitude towards money. While making a good profit is commendable, seeking excessive or unfair gains, especially through dishonest means, is contrary to God's principles. The Bible emphasizes that all things are permissible, but not all things are expedient, profitable, or constructive to character and spiritual life.
Desiring money is not inherently selfish, as money is essential in life. However, the means by which money is acquired matters. God desires that His people obtain money through honest and righteous means. Wrongfully gaining profit, especially by exploiting others or engaging in dishonest practices, attracts a curse. God's purpose for providing wealth includes funding the kingdom's work, providing for one's household, and subduing the earth.
Prayer:
Father, in the name of Jesus, I choose to walk in honesty and fairness in my enterprise/business. I am led by the fear of God and the wisdom of God. Amen.
