THE PROMISE OF THE FATHER
“For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.”
2 Cor 1:20
Main Text: Main text: John 16:13
Many times, we associate the promises of God solely with material possessions. However, one of the most profound promises Jesus made to His disciples was the gift of the Holy Spirit. In John 15:26, He said, “But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me.” The Holy Spirit is the sure promise of the Father, freely given to us out of His love. When we receive the Holy Spirit, we receive Jesus Himself, for the Spirit testifies of Christ and brings His presence into our lives. Receiving the Holy Spirit is not a loss; it is an immense gain. It empowers us to experience the fullness of God’s blessings and partake in the promises made to the seed of Abraham.
In Him, the promises are not mere possibilities but assured realities. Through His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus became the embodiment of God's faithfulness. From the promise of redemption (Genesis 3:15) to the assurance of eternal life (John 3:16), every declaration of God finds its affirmation in Christ. This is why believers can stand confidently, knowing that God's Word will not return void (Isaiah 55:11). The promises of God find their "Yes" in Christ and are sealed in our lives through the Holy Spirit. Jesus declared in John 14:16-17 that He would ask the Father to send the Holy Spirit, who would dwell with us and within us. This promise of the Spirit is a clear example of God's faithfulness, as the Spirit empowers, comforts, and guides us daily.
In Ephesians 1:13-14, Paul describes the Holy Spirit as the "guarantee of our inheritance." This means that every promise God has made is guaranteed to be fulfilled, and the Holy Spirit is the divine seal of that certainty. When God says "Yes," the Spirit enables us to echo "Amen" with confidence, assuring us that what God has declared will come to pass. Moreover, the Spirit is instrumental in manifesting God's promises in our lives. Through His power, we experience peace, joy, and victory—attributes of God’s promises actively working within us (Galatians 5:22-23).
Confession:
I declare, I receive the Spirit of Truth and develop an intimate relationship with Him. The Holy Spirit quickens my mortal body; yes, I cannot be sick! I enjoy the Zoe life of God. Hallelujah!
