THE PRECIOUS BLOOD
“For as much as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
1 Peter 1:18-19â€
Main Text:
The blood of Christ is precious. One meaning of the word precious is dear. To be accurate, precious means costly, valuable, honorable, highly esteemed, and beloved. The precious blood of Jesus therefore means the costly, valuable, honorable, highly esteemed and beloved blood. The Greek word for precious is “timios” and it means held in honor, a great price, and especially dear.
Peter tells us we are not redeemed with corruptible things and in verse 19 above, he tells us we are redeemed by the blood of Christ. If we are not redeemed with corruptible things and we are redeemed by the blood, it simply means the blood of Jesus is incorruptible. His blood is costly, the best God had to offer. It cost the Father and the Son much to provide salvation for us. His blood is rare and there’s no other blood like it.
We are purchased from the slavery of sin with the price paid in full by the precious blood of Jesus. 1 Cor 6:20 “For ye are bought with a price: therefore, glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.” The blood of Jesus won us over from hell, death and the grave. It won us over from sicknesses and diseases, we are the redeemed of the Lord because of the blood.
Confession: I am bought with a price, therefore I glorify God in my body and in my spirit. I am loved of the Lord, the Greater One lives inside of me and I am the righteousness of Christ Jesus!
