THE BIBLE

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”
2 Timothy 3:16-17(KJV)
Main Text:

The Bible is the supreme book because it far excels all other books ever written. It has been a book that men turn to in their hour of tragedy and death. It is the Word of God and God’s Word is the final authority. Unlike other books and literatures, it is not mixed with myth and imaginations. It is also the book whose influence upon nations and men is beyond computation.

The Holy Spirit is its Author and its primary purpose is to give mankind, the revelation of God.

The word “Bible” comes from the Greek word “bibilos” meaning book. The Bible is divided into two major divisions: The Old and New Testaments. There are 39 books in the Old Testament and 27 in the New Testament. There are a total of 1,189 chapters; 31,173 verses; 773,746 words and 3,566,480 letters. The Bible was originally written in Hebrew and Greek. The Old testament was written in Hebrew (parts of Daniel and Ezra were written in Aramaic) while the New testament was written in the Greek Language. Though the most ancient of all books, it is still the best-seller of all times. It is the only book that is read by all classes and ages of mankind.

W.F.Kumuyi said “No man’s education is complete if he does not know the Bible. No Christian minister is really qualified for ministry of the Christian church without a thorough study of the Bible. No Christian worker can be fully effective without a ready knowledge of the Bible. Every Christian believer, worker, and minister should be a specialist in the Bible.”

Confession: I declare, I am blessed, I am fruitful, I see myself the way God sees me, I am the apple of His eyes, I am a friend of God, I am a friend of the Bible, I am blessed!
