A PERSONAL FAST
“Moreover, when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites…: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward. But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face…
Matthew 6:16-18 (KJV)
Main Text:
An open reward comes from God when you fast in secret. You can believe for this reward when you go into the fast. Be specific about its purpose. If you believe for the reward at the outset, the pressure from your physical body will lessen. Remembering the results and the reward being obtained makes fasting easier. Jesus admonishes us to fast in secret, for the blessing to be released openly. Broadcasting your fast to get admiration from men is not a good way to go, Jesus called it hypocrisy! Matthew 6:16 “And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.” (ESV) Fasting causes the spirit man to dominate the flesh. Fasting helps tune you to the spirit realm where healing and all your possessions in Christ already belongs to you. Whenever we choose to engage in personal fast, it’s imperative we do it effectively and scripturally.
God gives us some benefits of engaging in fasting. Kindly read Isaiah 58:6-14. “Isn't this the fast that I have chosen: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the bands of the yoke, and to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke?” (Verse 6). We have been delivered from the power of darkness through the substitutionary sacrifice of Jesus. The price has been paid. Therefore, if there’s an oppressive yoke, the believer can and should be free from it. God calls us to bring the spirit man into ascendancy over the flesh. This enhances intercession and sets the captives free. There are also personal rewards. See verse 8 You begin to receive things from the light of God’s Word. He will reveal His Word unto you! I encourage you to read the entire chapter and see what benefits you claim when you fast. God bless you!
Confession: I declare, I will never have to worry about sweating over a budget, the only thing I’ll do is worry over how to spend the overflow, I decree an abundance of finances is being released into my life. I declare my business will thrive! Glory! I’m blessed!

3 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, 4 who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,
Colossians 1:
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, 2 To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ who are in Colosse: Grace to you and peace from God our Father [a]and the Lord Jesus Christ. 3 We give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, 4 since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of your love for all the saints; 5 because of the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel, 6 which has come to you, as it has also in all the world, and is bringing forth [b]fruit, as it is also among you since the day you heard and knew the grace of God in truth; 7 as you also learned from Epaphras, our dear fellow servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ on your behalf, 8 who also declared to us your love in the Spirit. 9 For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10 that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; 12 giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. 13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and [c]conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, 14 in whom we have redemption [d]through His blood, the forgiveness of sins....
