YOU ARE NOT DEFEATED
“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?â€
Rom 8:31 (ESV)
Main Text:
God’s love for you is everlasting. The amazing proof of His everlasting love is listed in Romans 8. There’s no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. The accuser of the brethren has nothing on you. Life might want to throw it’s hurdles at you either emotionally, financially, mentally or spiritually, but you’ve got to always remind yourself that “God is for you, and nothing can be against you.”
God is “for” us in the sense that He is on our side, He is working on our behalf and for our good. Nothing should ever deter you from this truth. Our God is a good God and regardless of what ordeals we are faced with, He will make it work together for our good. God proved his benevolence in that He adopted us and has given us His Spirit. The Greater One lives inside of you, nothing can shake you.
The follow-up question “who can be against us?” is rhetorical. It’s another way of saying “There’s no one who is more powerful than God” or “No one can destroy us not even the devil.” The idea is not that we will never face opposition, it’s simply that our opposition is doomed to failure. They may be against us, but not successfully against us. God is on our side; we have nothing to worry about.
Confession: The Greater One lives in me, I am a child of God, He loves me just as much as He loves Jesus, I am not condemned, I enjoy liberty, I am more than a conqueror, I am blessed and highly favored.
