HOW IS YOUR CLOTHE?
“…I will punish the princes and the king’s children, and all such as are clothed with strange apparel.â€
Zephaniah 1:8
Main Text:
The life of Jesus while He was here on earth was a life of total obedience to the will of God. He did not seek to please Himself, but to please God, and God alone. That was why in Matthew 26:39, He said to the Father “…if it be possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as Thou wilt”. For Jesus, it was always what God wanted, even if it did not look convenient. If you put on the Lord Jesus, then all that you will wish to see is the will of God being done in your life. And because pleasing God will be your only desire, you will humble yourself before Him and allow Him to turn you wherever and however He wishes. The devil, the flesh and the world will not be given a chance to determine how you should speak or act, or what you should think about or imagine in your heart.
To be able to successfully put on the Lord Jesus Christ, you need to know who and what He is. This you cannot do if you are far from the scriptures. Jesus said that the scriptures speak of Him, so if you want to know about Him and also receive the power to be like Him, you have to spend quality time studying (not just reading) the Bible.
Instead of putting on “strange apparels” which will not allow us to get to heaven and spend eternity with the King, our Father, let us put on the Lord Jesus Christ with whom we are joint-heirs so that the Father can be well-pleased in us as He was in Jesus when He was here on earth (Matthew 3:17, Matthew 17:5). What kind of “clothes” are you “wearing” right now?
Prayer: Let Your image reflect in me O Lord
