DO YOU KNOW THIS GOD? II

“… I am the Almighty God…”
Genesis 17: 1
Main Text:

Also when God introduces Himself to you, the level of your faith in Him rises higher. When you understand that God is all-powerful, what on earth should stand as threat to you? Linked to this is the fact that your prayer life becomes better. You see, one of the reasons why some Christians are prayerless is that they don’t really understand that the God they call their Father is omnipotent; and when you are not even sure that He is able to do what you desire you will be reluctant to pray and believing in Him. With the understanding of God as the omnipotent, you will be encouraged to spend more time in the place of prayer. The understanding of God as the Almighty also keeps believers from going down to ‘Egypt’ for help. This is because we understand the “Almighty” as the“supreme” (highest, matchless, unbeatable, etc.) Who has solutions to all issues of life. If you understand God to be the all powerful, whose help would you be looking for in “Egypt”? Absolutely, none is like our God.

Another thing that happens when God introduces Himself to us as the Almighty is that we begin to see ourselves as privileged to have the enormous, supreme, all-powerful, God as our Father. You begin to better appreciate your relationship with Him especially when you consider that even the presidents of this world and other highly placed mortals are not within the reach of everyone but the Almighty God, the king Maker Himself lives in you and you have access to Him at anytime in the day or night (as long as you are not living in sin). Of course when you count yourself honored to have Him you will want to do anything and everything to ensure that you do not lose that connection you have with Him; including severing your relationship with your friends of several years who are dishonoring your God and still will not change) for your relationship with Him to remain intact.

Prayer: Never will I desert You O Lord
